\nHow the faithful city has become a whore!
\nOnce she was filled with justice,
\nrighteousness lodged in her;
\nbut now murderers!
\nYour silver is no longer pure,
\nyour wine is watered down.
\nYour leaders are rebels, friends of thieves.
\nThey all love bribes and run after gifts.
\nThey give no justice to orphans,
\nthe widow\u2019s complaint doesn\u2019t catch their attention.<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nIsaiah 3:12-15
\nMy people \u2014 children oppress them,
\nand women are ruling over them.
\nMy people! Your guides lead you astray
\nand obliterate the paths you should follow.<\/strong>
\nAdonai rises to accuse,
\nhe stands to judge the peoples.
\nAdonai presents the indictment
\nagainst the leaders and officers of his people:
\n\u201cIt is you who devour the vineyard;
\nin your houses is plunder taken from the poor.
\nWhat do you mean by crushing my people
\nand grinding down the faces of the poor?\u201d
\nsays Adonai Elohim-Tzva\u2019ot.<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nWoe to those who add house to house
\nand join field to field,
\nuntil there\u2019s no room for anyone else,
\nand you live in splendor alone on your land.<\/strong>
\nAdonai-Tzva\u2019ot said in my ears,
\n\u201cMany houses will be brought to ruin,
\nlarge, magnificent ones left empty;
\nfor a ten-acre vineyard will produce
\nonly five gallons of wine,
\nand seed from five bushels of grain
\nwill yield but half a bushel.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIsaiah 5:18-24
\nWoe to those who begin by pulling
\nat transgression with a thread,
\nbut end by dragging sin along
\nas if with a cart rope.
\nThey say, \u201cWe want God to speed up his work,
\nto hurry it along, so we can see it!
\nWe want the Holy One of Isra\u2019el\u2019s plan
\nto come true right now, so we can be sure of it!\u201d<\/p>\n
\nand good evil,
\nwho change darkness into light
\nand light into darkness,
\nwho change bitter into sweet
\nand sweet into bitter!
\n<\/strong>
\nWoe to those seeing themselves as wise,
\nesteeming themselves as clever.<\/p>\n
\nmen whose power goes to mixing strong drinks,<\/em>
\nwho acquit the guilty for bribes
\nbut deny justice to the righteous!<\/strong>
\nTherefore, as fire licks up the stubble,
\nand the chaff is consumed in the flame;
\nso their root will rot,
\nand their flowers scatter like dust;
\nbecause they have rejected the Torah
\nof Adonai-Tzva\u2019ot,
\nthey have despised the word
\nof the Holy One of Isra\u2019el.

\nIsaiah 10:1-4
\nWoe to those who enact unjust decrees
\nand draft oppressive legislation
\nto deprive the impoverished of justice
\nand rob my people\u2019s poor of their rights,
\nlooting widows and preying on orphans!<\/strong>
\nWhat will you do on the day of punishment,
\nwhen calamity comes from afar?
\nTo whom will you flee for help?
\nWhere will you leave your wealth,
\nso as not to squat among the prisoners
\nor fall among the slain?<\/em><\/p>\n
